Summer rocked at San Lorenzo Library this year! The Library offered weekly programs featuring celebrity children’s entertainers. These programs attracted audiences of over two hundred. Children’s Librarians maximized every inch of space in the center of the Library. Weekly craft programs in the meeting room also drew a healthy crowd.
Programs were funded by the Friends of the Library–San Lorenzo Area, In-N-Out Burgers, Togos and more. If you would like to suppost Library programing, join the Friends of the Library by filling out an application available in the Library’s lobby.
Entertainers include Daffy Dave performing comedy magic, music, and juggling; Thomas John bringing puppets, masks, music, and juggling balls; Jamie Coventry providing circus music and laughs; Tony Borders with his cool, crazy, critters; Blake Maxam, magician; Christie’s Critters; and Nanette Puppets’ fairy tales. Crafts included glittering red, white, and blue hats for fourth of July; sparkling suncatchers to take home; and fabulous jewelry making with expert artist, Chelsee Robinson.
Hundreds of San Lorenzo area children played the Alameda County Library reading game, “One World, Many Stories.”Children read age-level appropriate books and earned “spins” on the game board for each half hour of reading. Childrens Librarians awarded prizes to motivate entrants to read until they reached the end!
The reading game was designed to instill a lifelong love of reading and San Lorenzo Librarians observed this happening based on the delight expressed by children this summer.
If that wasn’t enough, the San Lorenzo Library also presented Preschool Storytimes and recently released feature films. Films included a San Lorenzo favorite, Tangled, as well as Rango, Gnomeo and more.
Check the San Lorenzo Library’s summer calendar early next year to be the first in line for this kind of fun!
